Erasure

These marks in the bottom margin are erasures, intended to remove traces of leadpoint notes put in as guides either to the rubricator or to the illustrator, or both.  Notes of both types, usually in different kinds of script, are still found on several folios in this manuscript and its sister manuscripts, providing valuable evidence for how the rubrics and pictures were created in this workshop.  Here the erasure has been crudely done, leaving ugly traces on the manuscript.  Also visible on this detail is the modern folio number, written in pencil in the bottom left corner of the page.
